A lot is being written about how driving on our island is regressing after some years of improvement.

Recently, I was approaching the roundabout at the top of Garibaldi Road, near the Addolorata Cemetery. A car with a learner sign came straight at me from my left when I had the right of way. I sounded my horn and the instructor stuck his hand out the window and made a rude gesture. No wonder the situation is getting worse.

The government has to get tough with driving instructors and make sure only the best geta licence.

However, the road is not the only place where anarchy is reigning. It seems the authorities are closing their eyes to discipline, wardens seem to have disappeared from our roads and policemen on motorbikes are rarely seen.

Fireworks are let off well after midnight. No one seems to care or have respect for the other.
