Size matters. Well, it does insofar as the European Song Contest is concerned. Therefore, Malta can never win; we are far too small to get enough votes from all the other countries that participate.

Please stop the torturing, year after year, of our singers chosen to represent Malta. It is blatantly obvious that the whole event is controlled by the big five countries who contribute the most money to the contest itself and they are the ones that qualify automatically.

The money spent to take part can surely be better used for a local event; this would save all the embarrassment. The build-up and anticipation for a large number of Maltese who faithfully look forward to this contest is always shattered at the first hurdle. I know that on a couple of occasions we were very close but taking into consideration the times we took part it is all a very poor return indeed.

So please save us all from this totally unfair song contest – let’s have the month of May free of the so-called Eurovision Song Contest.
