Recently, I had occasion to use the road which takes one from atop the Blue Grotto to Ħaġar Qim/Mnajdra Temples.

The road starts with a very smooth patch of tarmac, but alas, this discontinues after a while when one arrives near the Ħaġar Qim crossroads.

From then on, the road takes the shape of dotted potholes of all types and sizes. It is virtually impossible for a driver to avoid these fairly large holes. Imagine driving at night.

This is unacceptable when one considers that this stretch of road is used by many tourists, tour operators, buses and local people alike.

The other thing I noticed, when I stopped to get a better view of the landscape, was the amount of rubbish and limestone bricks scattered on the otherwise beautiful countryside, a few metres off the road.

This looks bad for tourism and the country as a whole. I urge all the authorities concerned to join forces and clean this area and resurface this road.
