Artists have been invited to participate in a competition to design a monument that pays tribute to Europe.

Its proposed location is Luqa, where it would be seen by those on their way to and from the airport.

The initiative should serve to offer artists more space to exhibit their talent while the public could appreciate their works, the Resources Ministry and the Malta Council for Culture and the Arts said.

The monument forms part of a plan for the country to continue being embellished by works of art in its roads, in which the government is investing €50,000.

More information and applications can be obtained from www.mrra.gov.mt or www.maltaculture.com. The deadline for submissions is October 7.
