Going up Triq il-Marfa leading from Mellieħa to Armier or Ċirkewwa, there is a billboard explaining that the road was built with the help of EU funds.

Since the road is not lit at night and there are no blinking lights, nor proper reflectors (there is one tiny reflector yet since it’s covered with dirt it barely shows up), the concrete base is barely visible yet it takes up half the inner lane of the road.

If anyone is hurrying to get the Gozo ferry and is distracted or blinded by the lights of an oncoming car, hitting the concrete base could be lethal.

Going to Gozo at night I saw a car which nearly hit the base. I called the Mellieħa police station to inform them of this and the policeman on duty thanked me very courteously and told me that will take care of it.

Yet this was more than a week ago. Unfortunately nothing was done.

Transport Malta should find a better place for this billboard before an ugly accident happens. Besides, because of the way the billboard is placed, its message can barely be seen.
