Amino Chemicals, the European manufacturer of active pharmaceutical ingredients, which is part of the Dipharma Group, inaugurated its new headquarters in Marsa last week.

Amino Chemicals is involved in the chemical process development and industrialisation of new generic APIs. Its facilities, which have been inspected by the US FDA since 2002, have almost doubled in recent years under an expansion project which was started in late 2006.

The inauguration ceremony was led by Dipharma Group president Barbara Geinoz-Biazzi.

“Amino Chemicals is the incubator of the future of the Dipharma Group, as it hosts most of the new products that are brought to industrial scale for the first time,” she said. “The new offices will provide Amino Chemicals with the space to welcome our international customers, some of the most important pharmaceutical companies, making the company’s valuesvisible, and will offer our employees a work environment which promotes innovation and team work.”

The president explained that special care was given during design and construction stage to thermal insulation, energy efficiency, noise absorption and other factors to improve the quality of life in the workplace.

More than 100 guests attended the ceremony and included the authorities, suppliers and staff and their families. The president expressed her confidence that this was a new milestone for the organisation to create new business opportunities.

With sales of approximately €100 million in 2012, Dipharma Group is regarded on the market as one of the major European players in bulk active pharmaceutical ingredients. It has a portfolio of about 70 APIs. Dipharma serves top ranking pharmaceutical companies in Europe, the US and Japan, supported by a fully equipped research and development centre with more than 40 qualified researchers.

Dipharma group is composed of Dipharma Francis S.r.l. of Italy where it has three production sites, Amino Chemicals in Malta, and Dipharma Inc., a commercial office opened in 2012 in US.
