Champions Luxol took on rivals Aloysians Von Taine in the final of the men’s KO last weekend.

The first half was played at a fast pace with Aloysians displaying good handball but Luxol enjoyed a marginal lead by half-time.

Aloysians raised their game in the second half. With just four minutes remaining for the full-time whistle at the University Sports Hall, the score was 23-all.

But a spectacular goal by Damian Gargano sealed it for Aloysians who won their eight KO success after edging their rivals 24-23.

In the women’s competitions, La Salle Rivareno concluded their season on a positive note after completing the double.

In the final of the KO tournament, La Salle had the better of Aloysians Żmerċ.

La Salle began the match in brisk fashion as they took matters in hand, dominating from the early stages.

Aloysians tried to force their way back but La Salle stayed at the top of their game thanks to sound defending and well-taken goals from Diana Husko, Kami Dobra-cheva and Kristina Kalla.

La Salle’s experience proved vital as the team led by Daniel Tabone won the game 29-23.

Malta Handball Association president Louis Borg presented the trophies to the winning teams.
