Labour MP Silvio Parnis is receiving a yearly allowance of €10,302.25, free mobile and telephone usage as well as a car for his services as head of a consultative council for the south.
The information was revealed last Monday by Environment Minister Leo Brincat in reply to a parliamentary question tabled by Nationalist MP Chris Said.
Without quoting any exact amount, the minister said Mr Parnis was entitled to an allowance equivalent to a quarter of the top salary (scale 1) of the civil service.
The consultative council was appointed last November and falls under the responsibility of the Ministry for the Environment and Sustainable Development. Its remit is to discuss problems in the region and propose solutions.
