The Alliance Française de Malte Méditerranée, having recently celebrated 50 years of cultural and academic activity in Malta, overhauled and refurbished its French Books library, located at its premises, Casa Sir Luigi Preziosi, 108, St Thomas Street, Floriana.
The library has had a revamp over the past months with an update of the book section, consisting of more than 6,000 volumes, covering novels, thrillers, science fiction, classical literature, criticism to poetry, cinema, theatre, photography, social and human science.
The library also includes a section for children and adolescents, covering more than 1,000 titles.
It is open to the public who may wish to drop in, browse around, talk with the librarian, select a book, read it in the premises or take it home.
Students of French are encouraged to take advantage of the library and its literary and academic resources.
As part of its refurbishment, a web-catalogue has been launched, accessible at http://www.liballiancefr.herobo.com/index.php , with a detailed search facility, where one can search by title, author, subject and editor.
The homepage of the web-site is regularly updated with the recommended book of the month and updates on events from the French literary world
The Library’s Book Club is open to all who wish to discuss the reading of books in French and meets monthly at the Alliance’s premises.
