Alive Under the Stars is a charity concert that means a lot to cyclist Ryan Spiteri, who is putting it all together, but will mean a lot more to the Alive Charity Foundation, in whose aid this event is being staged.

“On a personal note, I’ve always wanted to stage an event, but more importantly, the fact that by doing this I’m helping a good cause means much more to me,” Spiteri said, adding that this was his way of raising the necessary funds for the foundation’s upcoming charity event.

The concert will feature six acts in total – half of them popular Maltese rock bands, the other three leading local DJs. “The event kicks off at 8pm with the three rock bands – The Myth, Unforgiven and Colourblind – performing onstage,” Spiteri explained.

“After that, the event will continue with a night of dance music into the early hours, thanks to music from Joseph Armani, Toby and Daniel Blade.”

89.7 Bay’s Ben Glover will be the host while Spiteri – a former Axis DJ – will also be playing a warm-up set.

The Alive Charity Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organisation that was set up in 2012. It seeks to raise money by organising activities, mainly to support projects promoting health awareness and related scientific research.

Its latest activity is, in fact, a cycling challenge that will see some 40 participants cycle from London to Brussels and on to Paris – that’s some 720km – in just six days.

The scope is to raise money that will go to the Action for Breast Cancer Foundation, which supports breast cancer research at the University of Malta.

Alive Under the Stars is supported by the University Students Council and will be held on Thursday night at Razzett L-Aħmar in Mosta. Entrance is €5, with all proceeds going to the Alive Charity Foundation. For more information look up the event page on Facebook.
