The Dance Workshop is presenting Alice in Wonderland at St Agatha’s Auditorium, Rabat, on Tuesday and Wednesday at 8 p.m.

Hip-hop is included for the first time

This will be a dance spectacle featuring several dance forms, photography, lighting and costumes to bring to life this fantastic story.

The ballet is inspired primarily by the Lewis Carroll story, but also by past and recent film versions, and also ballet productions based on the story.

Senior students and dancers are being coached not only in dance techniques but also to be able to carry out their miming roles as cards, flamingoes and roses among other roles

Theresa Lungaro-Mifsud has put together a delightful produc-tion including choreography by Francesca Abela Tranter, Pamela Kerr, Claire Cassola, Rachel Grech, Diane Portelli, Maria Louise Gingell and Francesca Bartolo.

For the first time hip-hop is included and the choreo-graphy has been entrusted to the studio’s resident teacher Sue Vassallo.

Jade Farrugia performs the role of Alice. She is supported by Keith Micallef as the knave of hearts, Francesca Bartolo as the White Rabbit, Pamela Kerr as the Queen of Hearts and Karl Cini as the Mad Hatter.

John Grech is responsible for the images being projected and Lucien Stafrace is creating props and additional scenery. Renzo Spiteri is music adviser and Francesca Abela Tranter is responsible for lighting the performance.

The performance promises to be a magical night.

Tickets at €12 and €15 are available from The Dance Workshop Studios in Guardamangia (tel. 9942 9233, 2124 2465) on weekday afternoons.
