Alf Mizzi and Sons (Marketing) Ltd has just installed a grid-connected 99.60kwp photovoltaic system. This installation is one of the biggest grid-connected PV plants in Malta and will generate approximately 170,000kWhr electricity per annum.

This energy generated is equivalent to €34,000 per annum and will reduce the company’s utilities bills by 4.9 per cent, based on last year’s consumption. The plant, which was purchased from ECO Solutions, is made up of 415 panels of latest Bosch c-SI P60 240W polycrystalline panels, 5SMA STP17000 inverters and innovative metal roof mounting system from Schletter.

From an environmental point of view, the company will be avoiding 176,600kg of CO2 emission annually by producing more than 465 units (kWhr) per day.

The investment of this project was funded totally by the company as no EU funds or government funds were made available.

Notwithstanding this, the company still went ahead with the investment and aims to get a return on the investment in less than five years.
