The Bay Arena came to life on Monday night as thousands of music enthus-iasts crowded the place for the eighth edition of the Bay Music Awards.

The night, packed with 23 perform-ances, was livened up by Bay Radio’s own deejays Captain Drew, Nathan and Ben Glover.

This year, SMS votes topped the BMAs’ records.

The awards were given to Airport Impressions for best band, JJoy - King of the Night - for best dance tune/remix, Andrè - Can’t be Friends - for best song, Christabelle for best solo, The Crowns for best newcomer and Airport Impressions for present-ers’ choice.

The Raise the Roof award, presented for the first time this year,, tripled Airport Impression’s honours.

The group won the award after obtaining the loudest screams from their fans following their act.

The BMAs will be aired on One TV on Monday with a repeat on Christmas Day at 3.30 p.m. Voting for the viewers’ choice award will open during the BMAs’ first screening and will close at midnight on December 26.

The Bay Kids song Reach Out by Toby and JJoy, featuring Lyndsay, can be downloaded from iTunes in aid of YMCA Malta.
