It is said that comparisons are odious. I don’t think they are always so. An example is Air Malta’s new fare structure where it is proposed that passengers will have to pay for meals on board. (The Sunday Times, October 14). Other charges are envisaged, just like what low cost airlines do. However, Air Malta is not a low cost airline and the ticket fares are not comparable with low cost airline charges.

If this is going to be the case then surely it will make economic sense for people to opt for low cost airlines instead of Air Malta.
