I am a frequent visitor to your islands and I patronise Air Malta as my first choice for travel. Why on earth is this excellent airline in difficulty and why is it talking to a Chinese airline?

Over five million people live here in frozen Yorkshire for six months of the year but does Air Malta serve any of its airports? No! There is no need to lay off any of the airline’s planes in the winter. Fly them twice a day, every day, from November to Easter with supportive advertising in the Yorkshire Post and smaller regional newspapers.

I recommend Air Malta opens talks with Doncaster Robin Hood Airport which is crying out for new business. Forget China, the answer to the airline’s problems lies much closer to home and well within range of the four Airbus A319s in the fleet. Create a new market and don’t follow the herd.
