The National Museum of Fine Arts is hosting the last exhibition at its present location in South Street, Valletta, a collection of ceramic sculptures by Gozitan artist Paul Haber.

Haber’s abstract works, inspired mostly by nature, can be appreciated for their beauty by even the most uninformed of viewers. With his exotic glazing and striking forms, Haber’s works have made an impact wherever they have been exhibited, whether in Denmark, the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, Paris, his homeland Gozo, or Malta where he had his most successful retrospective exhibition last year.

Haber’s is the last exhibition to be held at Admiralty House as a Fine Arts Museum and it was a particularly poignant moment as the exhibition was inaugurated by Fr Marius Zerafa, former curator of the museum, before it moves to bigger premises at the Auberge d’Italie in Merchants Street.

In his inauguration speech, Fr Zerafa voiced his wish that this beautiful, unique palace is put to the best use possible.

This is the third exhibition Haber is holding at Admiralty House, which he considers his favourite for his sculptures.

The exhibition also coincides with the 40th anniversary of his very first solo exhibition, which was held at the National Museum in Republic Street under the supervision and great encouragement of Fr Zerafa, who at the time acquired a piece of Haber’s works to be added to the national collection.

The exhibition is open till January 20.
