‘Noble Stones’ (April 23) gives the history of Palazzo Castelletti, former residence of Sr Adeodata Pisani. She used to live there with her mother before joining the Benedictine monastery in Mdina.

During the 1990s, my husband, Arthur, as coordinator of the canonisation cause of M. Adeodata Pisani, got to know where Sr Adeodata lived in . This information was given to us by 93-year-old Anthony Ciappara, who also recounted to us how he was miraculously healed from a deadly disease and high fever when his grandmother rubbed him with holy oil brought from the monastery while the family prayed fervently to God for his recovery, through the intercession of Sr Adeodata.

When Kaspru Camilleri, a doctor, visited the family thinking that by that time the child would be dead, he found the boy alive and kicking.

The palazzo changed various hands until it was owned by the late Mario Pullicino, a very good friend of my late husband and devotee of the Ven. M. Adeodata Pisani. However, during the Labour government, the palazzo was requisitioned and rented as social housing.

By time, the palazzo was unfortunately reduced to a dilapidated state. We discussed the matter with Pullicino and former abbess, Sr Giustina Bonello, who all agreed that a letter be sent to Mepa asking for the palazzo to be scheduled with the possibility of its future rehabilitation and, maybe later, serve as a museum.

After about 10 years of hard work spreading devotion towards the Ven. M. Adeodata Pisani and finalising all necessary documentation required for her beatification, my late husband was relinquished of his position as coordinator and this project and many others were left to die a natural death.

Lately, my daughter visited the newly-restored palazzo-turned-restaurant and gladly noted that a picture of Blessed M. Adeodata Pisani still hangs on one of the walls.

I wish success to the new owners in their venture.
