The number of accidents at work rose by one per cent in the third quarter of the year but data show there were no fatal accidents between July and September.
The National Statistics Office yesterday said 834 people were involved in non-fatal accidents during the third quarter – eight more than the corresponding period in 2011. Most of the victims (86 per cent) were men.
A quarter of these accidents took place in manufacturing, 16 per cent in construction and 12 per cent in the accommodation and food services sector.
Wounds and superficial injuries, dislocations, strains and sprains were the most common types of injuries.
