One of the most spectacular walks in Malta is that along the Victoria Lines. I understand this is national heritage and the public has the right of access along all the length of the wall.
Unfortunately, this is not always the case as, for example, when one has crossed Wied il-Faħam from Għargħur to Madliena. At this point, when one reaches the San Giovanni Battery one is faced with a padlocked iron gate and it is not possible to proceed any further. Moreover, an iron barrier has been erected over the wall itself.
I ask Mepa and the Tourism Authority if they are aware of the illegal erection of this gate and the defacement of the wall. I hope that the authorities concerned will take immediate action to allow free passage along this part of the lines and to ensure that this historical heritage is given the protection it deserves.
