Simple in form, yet invoking powerful forces, Gozitan sculptor Paul Haber’s abstract works are inspired by nature.

They are on show at his third exhibition at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Valletta, coinciding with the 40th anniversary of his very first solo exhibition held under the supervision of Fr Marius Zerafa.

Haber has come a long way since the beginning of his career in ceramics. He has studied, researched, taught, lectured and worked in the ceramic industry, while his works have been exhibited in Malta and abroad.

His latest show demonstrates harmony in his choice of glazes, whether in bright or muted hues, or even when they lack glazing – when he uses the natural colours of different clay bodies as his canvas.

Without forcing himself or the material, he produces works that are uncomplicated but strong, minimal but at the same time laden with feeling.

His exhibition will remain open until February 17.
