On October 26, 2006, The Times published my letter about the precarious state of the old horse trough/fountain in Church Wharf, Marsa.

Some time later, it was enclosed in a wire mesh to prevent dislocation of parts of it and further damage. Now, however, the mesh has disappeared. The fountain/trough is still in a derelict state and it will surely fall into further disrepair.

Can anybody shed some light on its history and whether it is scheduled or not?

Will someone from the local council or some authority please see to its restoration before it ends up falling into the sea or establishing itself comfortably in someone’s private garden?
