Local companies are lending their financial support following damages sustained by Ta’ Ġieżu in Rabat when part of the church’s ceiling collapsed earlier last month. AX Holdings has joined the cause by supporting the Franciscan fathers.

The group’s chairman, Angelo Xuereb, visited the church in Rabat and discussed measures on how to protect the opening in the ceiling to prevent further damage. Luckily, no damage was done to the prestigious paintings inside.

With the help of skilled volunteers, appointed by Ta’ Ġieżu, the opening has now been given a temporary covering. The provincial, Fr Richard Stanley Grech, is now looking forward to having his dream materialise thorugh the construction of the missing dome – which will cost over €300,000.

After making his donation, Mr Xuereb urged others to follow suit. Donations may be made on Bank of Valletta account IBAN – BOV A/C MT43VALL22013000000040020868884 or by cheque to the Franciscans, St Mary of Jesus, St Paul Street, Rabat.
