The 2014/15 season of the Assoċjazzjoni Sport Muturi u Karozzi (ASMK) continues this Sunday at the motorsport complex in Ta’ Qali.

The programme features races from the seventh round of the Autocross championship and the third round of the Motocross competition.

Racing gets underway at 11am while the practice sessions are scheduled to take place tomorrow from 2pm onwards.

Clayton Camilleri, riding a KTM 250cc, is leading Class A in Motocross with 102 points, six more than second-placed Paul Muscat, also on a KTM.

Third place is occupied by Edward Ciantar, on a Kawasaki, who has 79 points.

Class B sees Ludvick Muscat, on a KTM, on top with 105 points. Gozitan rider Adam Sultana (Kawasaki) is second with 83 and Elvin Debono (Kawasaki) third on 69 points.

The 12-event Autocross Championship has reached its halfway stage.

Leading the field is Philip Joe Vella, in an Opel Corsa, on 133 points. Vella has established a 22-point advantage over Christian Mark Galea (Fiat Ritmo) while Vince Farrugia (Volkswagen Polo) follows in third on 99 points. Jason Martin (Volkswagen Polo) lies fourth on 83 points.

Meanwhile, the ASMK has announced that the Trials National Championship will resume on February 15.

Last Sunday’s races were suspended for safety reasons after one of the competing riders suffered injuries after falling off his bike.

“All the necessary measures were taken to ensure that the injured rider received adequate medical attention on site,” the ASMK said.

“He was taken to hospital by ambulance for further checks but was released later in the day.”
