Art Discussion Group’s next meeting is being held at Misco Offices (first floor) in Fino Building in Notabile Road, Mrieħel on Wednesday at 7.30pm.
ADG is inviting George Scicluna (b.1966), a Gozitan artist who has deservedly made a name for himself as a prolific painter in a brilliant 30-year career (1985-2015).
The artist will be answering questions about vision, concept and technique and discuss aspects of some of his work.
The meeting will serve as a preview of his latest large works, a collection of paintings being inaugurated at the Ministry Hall in St Francis Square, Victoria, on Saturday.
Scicluna is a powerful and bold expressionist who articulates his inner conflict with conviction, power, passion and struggle. In this his latest exhibition, entitled Memories of Gozo, he has created vast panoramic scenarios packed with figures, human and real in an orgy of movement as perceived by a visionary and mystic.
His expression is in fitful flashes and splashes of splendid moments, of indecision, of joy and nostalgia, of sadness and melancholy, of difficult and tragic instances.
With determination and courage Scicluna faces life’s vicissitudes and, after deep reflection, turns to action.
ADG is inviting all members and their friends and the public to enjoy meeting the artist who is ready to share his work and answer any question on aesthetics and technique.
