Alternattiva Demokratika is supporting residents’ opposition to the construction of a large residential complex which it says would suffocate one of the last remaining breathing spaces in San Ġwann.

The complex in Żbibu Lane proposes to demolish an existing “dilapidated” farmhouse and replace it with 54 flats, seven penthouses and 77 garages over two basements and four floors.

Arnold Cassola from AD said the proposed development would destroy the only open space in the area and create an overgrown architectural complex in an area which already lacks open spaces, gardens and leisure spaces.
