Alternattiva Demokratika has appealed to both Hamas and the Israeli Government to put down their weapons and stop the “unprecedented” violence in Gaza and instead gather around a table to seek a peaceful way forward.
AD’s spokesman on EU and international affairs Arnold Cassola said: “The situation is of unprecedented gravity with an escalation of the use of force that is spreading like wildfire.
“The spilling of innocent blood is a crime of gigantic proportions that leads to nowhere.”
He said that a lasting two-state solution guaranteed by an international peacekeeping force securing the borders was imperative.
The EU had to take a more proactive stance, he insisted.
