I don’t want to be controversial but perhaps some ideas from the past might not be amiss.
In the so-called ‘bad old days’, Dom Mintoff had set up a labour corps to address the unemployment problem. Voluntary membership in a properly organised labour corps could help unemployed youths.
To encourage unemployed youths to join such a corps they should be provided with a curriculum that includes sport, trade skills, basic arithmetic, and reading and writing to help them in future.
Loitering and idleness could lead to bad habits and criminal activities. A traditional education might not be appropriate for everyone and we as a nation should do our best to give everyone a chance to succeed in life.
