I read with interest Fabian Mangion’s article on George Mitrovich, ‘Recalling a brave, sincere patriot forgotten by Malta’ (The Sunday Times of Malta, March 8) and was disappointed at how neglected his grave is.

I wonder if some organisation will take up the initiative to restore his grave and add a sculpture of this patriotic Maltese gentleman who worked so hard, even at his own expense, to reach his goal.

It’s a pity that although his one desire was to obtain for his fellow countrymen the necessary constitutional reforms and press freedom, Mitrovich still had to experience some delusions.

As Mangion said in his article, “George Mitrovich is the pride of Senglea”, and I would add, of all Malta too.
