I heard of the Taming of the Shrew and other colourful jokes around the shrew but never actually saw one. This week, I had the opportunity to see one among the stones of a rubble wall on the way down to San Blas Bay in Gozo. On looking up some information on it, I discovered that it is known as the pygmy white-toothed shrew and is the smallest mammal in the world. It is a very friendly creature and not scared of being picked up. Wonder why the connotation to women shrews!
