Who is responsible for billboard placement? While taking my daily walk along the Tower Road Sliema front, I couldn’t but notice this big concrete block with iron studs protruding, just strategically placed in the middle of the pavement, right next to the entrance to the children’s swings near the tower.

There is no indication if this belongs to the blues, reds or greens and frankly I don’t care. Someone has the cheek to create this eyesore and danger smack in the middle of this very busy pavement.

I would not like to imagine what would happen if a child had to fall on one of those metal spikes, or if the billboard were blown over by the wind as has happened before. Whoever put it there, did so in preparation for the general election which could take place between now and March 2013. This is arrogance at its best.

What does the department of health and safety have to say?
