I recently watched the film Don Bosco, starring Flavio Insinna and Lina Sastri, and was immensely impressed by the life of Fr Bosco.

This film teaches us never to lose hope and to keep persisting in achieving something when we honestly believe that it is good.

Fr Bosco and his mother, Margerita, gave a home to over 100 abandoned boys, offering them shelter and food and teaching them how to read and write and how to play games. They also opened a printing press for the boys to work in. The list is endless.

Margerita was really a mother to all the boys they hosted.

I do not mind watching this beautiful film over and over again because there is so much to learn from it. It teaches us what true love is; how we must never lose hope – the doctor told Fr Bosco’s mother that her son may not make it through the night because he was seriously ill but he recovered, thanks to the prayers of those same boys he cared for.

We learn that there is great power in prayer and that all good things will never come to an end (even when one dies, this being the beginning of a new life).

We should work to achieve what is truly good and not merely for one’s personal gain.

I recommend this film because I am sure that everyone will get something from it.
