Maltese Catholics are being urged to join in prayer for peace tomorrow in Mellieħa.
The Archdiocese of Malta said the activity, to be held at 7pm in the courtyard of the Sanctuary of the Virgin Mary, will consist of prayer for peace and for persecuted Christians.
The rosary will be recited for the following five intentions: the persecution of Christians in the world, victims of fighting in Libya and African countries, victims of the conflict in Israel and Palestinian territories, victims of violence in Iraq and Syria, and those caught in the Ukrainian conflict.
At the end of the activity, the Archbishop will deliver a message and impart a sacramental blessing.
Reiterating Pope Francis’s words, the bishops said in a statement: “Violence cannot be overcome by violence but by peace and according to the Pope’s wish, we should pray in the silence of our hearts to Mary, Queen of Peace.”
