Gastronomy, the public transport system and urban spaces are some of the Maltese cultural traits that a group of Mcast students put together in a series of posters as part of the Valletta 2018 Foundation’s public engagement process.

These combine images and Maltese proverbs or sayings that have withered along the years.

The group, made up of five students following a Graphic Design and Interactive Media course, was one of eight asked to pick a draft theme for Malta’s 2018 Cultural Capital programme ... and then develop it into a branding exercise.

Their theme, called ‘EUdaimonia – living well, doing well’, brings together all the cultural aspects that help Maltese society prosper.

According to the foundation, cultural development could be a major promoter of well-being.

The students explored the connections between gastronomy, the public transport system, public health, architectural design, educational and cultural events and Maltese life, and came up with a series of interactive bus shelter posters.

These combine images and Maltese proverbs or sayings that have withered along the years.

The posters – and the other seven other projects – were presented to the Valletta 2018 Foundation to help it develop possible marketing.
