Three people with a disability have a brand new home in Qawra built around their needs and requirements.

The home, called Dar l-Akkwarell, will allow its three residents, Christine Borg, Debbie Schembri and Gordon Cardona, to live semi-independently.

Family Minister Chris Said, who was present at the inauguration with Archbishop Paul Cremona, said the Government was helping Id-Dar tal-Providenza – responsible for the home – through a three-year agreement under which the Government subsidises up to €115,000 for the Qawra home.

Fr Martin Micallef, director of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, thanked all those who helped Dar l-Akkwarell become a reality. He gave special thanks to Paul Balzan who donated the house in his will.
