It’s a wonderful idea to build a new power station and reduce our water and electricity bills come March 2014. Full marks to the bright person who thought it up. Unfortunately, it works only if it could be constrained within a two-year time frame.

Unless Joseph Muscat proves to be a Dom Mintoff it cannot be done as Muscat seems to be trying to give us the impression that a Mintoff is the last thing he would want to be.

Consequently, this automatically makes the Socialist warhorse hors de combat and the bright person will have to go back to the drawing board to think up something better for the following general election in 2018 unless the electorate fails to see through their pretty little game – a non-starter if there ever was one.

For, in that case, prepare to join the queue of European Union failures such as Greece, Spain, Portugal and (Muscat please note), last but not least, Cyprus.
