I refer to the two letters by Peter Apap-Bologna and Felix Galea under the headline Britain Left Out In The Cold (December 15). I agree 100 per cent.

As an Anglophile, I feel really saddened by the British Prime Minister’s veto at the recent EU historic meeting to try and solve the financial crises that have engulfed the whole of Europe.

David Cameron has made his first major mistake since he formed the coalition with the Lib. Dems. It has now emerged that the British PM had no authority whatsoever from the coalition to exercise the British veto at this historical meeting, set up by the EU to find a breakthrough to this impasse.

It is more than likely that Mr Cameron’s foolish decision has wrecked Great Britain’s relations with the EU with dire consequences to follow.

Mr Cameron, called “stubborn” by Nicolas Sarkozy, has already angered the banks. Some €346 billion have been entrusted with the European Central Bank revealing no confidence in the banking system.

No one really knows the end result of this calamity of financial disasters. Will the euro last through this coming New Year, 2012? Will the Maltese revert to the lira? I do not think there is anyone brave enough to answer these questions. Time will tell.
