Emmanuel Delicata, Malta’s oldest, family-run wine producer has just released a new corporate TV commercial introducing its new generation of winemakers: Mario, Michael and Matthew Delicata.

The commercial focuses on the viticultural and winemaking side of the company’s activities, all of which are overseen by the latest generation of Delicata brothers, who have now become immersed in the family business of making quality wine.

Throughout the world of wine, it is common knowledge that family-run winemakers have an unrivalled passion about the wines they create.

To many a discerning wine drinker, their creations are recognised as being so much more than just a wine – they are an actual representation of not only the family members who make them, but of their history and traditions, their intimacy with the land and, more often than not, their very long and very warm human story.

The Delicata family is no exception. More than a 100 years after the company was founded in 1907 by Eduardo Delicata, three generations are still engaged in the family business.

Eduardo’s son Emmanuel, now 96, is no longer involved, but he is the patriarch of the family. His son Vincent George Delicata has been at the helm of the company since the early 1970s and in recent years, his own three sons, Mario, Michael and Matthew, have all joined him and all play significant roles in the business.

In a recent interview, V.G. Delicata said: “The fact that we are an independent, fourth-generation, family-run winemaker is very important to us. My three sons are all playing a vital, hands-on, day-to-day role in the future of a wine business my grandfather loved and established all those years ago, and that my father is still so passionate about.

“Today I feel proud that our Delicata wines are truly family wines, every step of the way. From the 380 farming families that grow our grapes to us, the Delicata family who devotedly transform them into wine and, finally, to the families who have been drinking and enjoying them for so many years”.

Over the years, Delicata has received a number of foreign tributes from respected wine critics and has won over 85 international awards and medals in wine competitions held in the cities of Bordeaux, Burgundy, London, Madrid, Verona and Paris.
