The government often boasts of Malta’s financial surplus. It may be right there, but what about our moral deficit where values such as good, prudent, wise and principled government have gone to the dogs?

Our country has earned a bad name not only domestically, but also internationally, in Italy, France, Britain, Belgium, Lithuania and Australia. We have become the talk of the town worldwide. Not in the old, simple and humble sense but in a derogatory sense. Maybe, as a people, we deserve it.

Where are we heading?

At the moment we are intent on making loads of money, and losing our peace of mind, heart and soul. Greed robs us of our peace of soul.

It is about time that our leaders listen to better and wiser counsel and learn from their mistakes. To continue on our present course is just folly.

I feel that our small but dear country is at present going downhill, through moral famine and starvation. Not only is our traffic clogged and uncontrollable, our whole island is, due to our mistaken priorities and due to our willfulness.

God punishes sinful and unrighteous countries with bad leaders. He is merciful, but also just, and exacts justice.

Our leaders should lead by good example. By better example. Not by the present convoluted and devious reasoning and impure arguments.
