Aimed at creating a space for dancers and artists to work together and to explore their artistic boundaries, the recently established ArtsExcel school is headed by artistic director Marisha Bonnici, who aims to provide a creative ‘home’ for young, talented and versatile dancers.

The school gives the students the technical foundation needed in the art forms, preparing them to sit for internationally-recognised examinations in classical ballet, modern dance, Spanish dance, gymnastics, individual singing and musical theatre.

Students are also encouraged to develop beyond the examination structures and to work towards performances, installations and exhibitions. This gives each student the space to grow and develop within their own desired niche. The school also offers classes in hip hop, jazz, Pilates and circuit-training lessons, which are aimed at enhancing the dancer.

Classes are offered from the age of three upwards. Boot camps are also held to give the students the opportunity to work with different teachers and to experience a multitude of dance genres. Workshops with overseas professional teachers and dancers broaden the students’ knowledge, while international summer schools are attended to expose the dancers to full-time vocational training.

The fully equipped studios are located in San Ġwann and Pembroke, and all classes are taught by fully qualified and/or experienced teachers in their field. With the school ethos being that every individual can excel at being who they desire to be and beyond, ArtsExcel is there for the artist who desires to achieve beyond and who wishes to nurture a love for the arts.
