We have just spent a week on holiday in the north of Malta with friends, taking walks every day along the beautiful coastlines between Golden Bay, Selmun, Fort Campbell and Mistra Bay. The magnificent scenery and abundance of wild flowers at this time of the year is unique.

Malta is truly a gem in the Mediterranean… or it could be. Sadly the joy of walking in these areas was lessened by the amount of garbage and junk littering the terrain. We also saw and heard hunters every day; it is incomprehensible to see men lying behind ugly Keep Off and No Entry signposts in full view from the walking paths, shooting at small and no doubt migratory birds.

We find it strange that Malta does not take better care of its beautiful island and potential; it deserves much better. Until you do we feel no desire to return, and shall advise our friends to seek other springtime holiday destinations.
