Being an integral part of the Żebbuġ community, Michael Debono Ltd, official representatives of Toyota in Malta will be exhibiting the first ever Toyota to be sold and imported in Europe, during the Night Fest at Ħaż-Żebbuġ on Saturday, June 16, starting at 7p.m.

During this event, which is organised by the Ħaż-Żebbuġ Local Council, the Żebbuġ main square and its surroundings will be transformed into a medieval village with a whole array of traditional Żebbuġ and Maltese customs, crafts, traditional costumes, militaria, and various re-enactments throughout the event. Medieval stalls featuring arts and crafts, food, drink and delicacies and a vast array of culture and music will adorn the town centre.

The directors at Michael Debono saw it fitting that a vehicle with such a heritage should be shown in such a professionally set up and joyous event. The Toyopet Crowne was the first ever Toyota imported and sold in a European country, making Malta the first country to offer what would later become the top global auto brand to its public.

Michael Debono Ltd had managed to trace this very first vehicle, buy it back and send it for an extensive two-year restoration project to the UK. The fully restored car was presented to the public in 2010 at a special event marking the 50th anniversary of Toyota in Malta and Europe.
