The need of a medical centre (better known as a polyclinic) has long been felt by the inhabitants of Sliema, who, I understand, hold the record for senior citizenship. It is, and has been evident for a long time, that the centre in Gżira, that caters for us at Sliema as well, is really and truly inadequate. Doctors and nurses are on the upper floors and it is a really humiliating experience watching people climbing those stairs.

The new Government must have been made aware of this situation, which was neglected by the outgoing Administration, and I am sure that, having found everything more or less in place (except for the ‘favours’ department), the dynamic Health Minister will find time to try and solve this problem which hits thousands.

Of course, Sliema is not so much in the books (good or otherwise) of Labour but now, with its new slogan, I am sure they will have already forgotten that Sliema is a Nationalist enclave. I am sure adequate premises can be found for a medical centre in Sliema.
