The Old English Jail House in Corradino is being converted into a scary haunted house for Halloween.

Theatre group Curtain Raiser have converted the old prison in Paola into a frightening attraction.

Those who dare brave the haunted house called Dar il-Waħx will be met with ghosts and mad scientists. They will also witness special light effects, spooky designs and eerie sound effects on their tour of the building.

The really brave are also invited to participate in some of the action. The clue for these daring visitors is “I would like to play a game.”

Creepy characters will also be lurking in the house whose décor has been inspired by horror films such as Saw, The Exorcist and Chronicles of a Vampire.

Dar il-Waħx is directed and produced by Patrick Vella.

There will be show tours on October 28 from 8 p.m. to midnight; on October 29 from 3 p.m. to midnight and on October 30 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

At no point does Dar il-Waħx contain any vulgar language or any obscene scenes. But what it does is challenge your emotions and put the audience to the test.

The haunted house is open to people aged over 12. There will be a play area for young children.
