A while ago I had to make a sad trip back to the UK to attend a dear friend’s funeral who also happened to be an avid biker. His funeral, as expected, was not the ordinary type and his final ride was in a motorcycle sidecar followed by a cortège of motorbikes.

It was all very dignified and was what he had wished for, especially as his lifelong partner rode pillion.

This made me wonder why Malta does not offer this alternative method of the final ride, given the large fraternity of bikers here (as witnessed at the Zabbar festa).

Perhaps such an idea has never been suggested?
