Personal achievement is equated to income and wealth of an individual.  For the vast majority of society the ability to generate income, and enough of it to live in relative affluence, will only happen if the individual painstakingly accumulates knowledge, skills and competences that are sought after by employers.  The majority of us need to keep ourselves employable.

When one considers the economic cycles that rule the world, with peaks and troughs that can make or break an individual, it is interesting to realise that the knowledge workers always seem to manage to avoid the wave that obliterates all the other ranks of employees.

Knowledge is key to a better future, and learning throughout life is de facto.

Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is one of the careers which has bucked all trends in its continuous upward curve.  ICT is a career which encompasses all other careers, and that the globalised world is still not finding enough human resources to meet demand.

Individuals of all ages with an inherent motivation to make inroads in their lives have made big strides by investing time and money to educate themselves in ICT and become highly employable.  An average graduate just out of a degree programme can count on a mark-up of not less than €5,000 in the gross annual salary, from the €12,000 bracket offered usually to entry level graduates. This amounts to an averge of €17,000 per annum for graduates with a good ICT degree.  With two years of solid experience on top of a renowned degree, the gross salary will top the €20,000.

Reading for an ICT degree at Saint Martin’s Institute of Higher Education is open for mainstream students aged 17 or over attending as full-time students and the more mature students in full-time employment who will study as evening students.

Students may choose from the University of London degrees in Computing & Information Systems, Creative Computing or the Information Systems and Management.  All programmes are MQF level 6 and benefit from the GetQualified and the MGSS (Undergraduate) Scheme.
