The world’s most expensive wine, that comes in a Balthazar (a 12-litre bottle), has just gone on sale at the fine wine shop Le Clos at Dubai International Airport.

The actual wine itself is the famed first growth Bordeaux red, Château Margaux, from the highly praised 2009 vintage, which is reputed to be one of the best vintages ever produced by the château.

Six Balthazars were bottled, with only three being put up for sale, exclusively through Le Clos for £122,000 (approx €145,000) each.

The good news for anyone who fancies buying one is that the buyer will be flown first class to France for a private tour of the vineyard and cellars followed by dinner at the château hosted by Margaux’s chief winemaker and managing director.
