KRS Film Distributors, with the collaboration of cinema exhibitors, are gearing up for the 16th edition of the hugely popular National Cinema Day, which will take place on Saturday.
As we have come to expect, National Cinema Day offers a range of films of all genres, with no fewer than 10 blockbuster titles on the list.
Among the films being shown are new release Bridesmaids, which stars Kristen Wiig as a woman trying to organise her best friend’s wedding with many a comic result; an upcoming wedding is jeopardised in Something Borrowed and Cameron Diaz makes high school life interesting in Bad Teacher.
Nerds of all shapes and sizes will find much to enjoy in Diary of a Wimpy Kid 2.
Director Michael Bay continues to flex his mighty muscles with Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third in the hugely successful franchise. Ryan Reynolds dons the bright green superhero suit of the Green Lantern and more superhero adventures can be found in X-Men: First Class.
A superhero of a different kind leads a menagerie of action animals in Kung Fu Panda 2, Johnny Depp reprises his eclectic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in Pirates of the Caribbean 4: on Stranger Tides, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker bring us Fast and Furious 5, while the men of Hangover 2 bring us more bachelor party shenanigans.
Most films have a reduced admission price of €3.50, while the price of films shown in 3D is slightly higher.
Film shows at Eden Cinemas in St Julian’s, the Embassy Cinemas in Valletta and Empire Cinemas in Buġibba start at 9 a.m. and run until late night, while films at the Citadel Cinema in Gozo will be at 6 p.m. and 8.30 p.m.
Booking for National Cinema Day is open. Early booking is recommended.
