The decision to install temporary structures to make the Mater Dei Hospital’s emergency department safe was lauded by the nurses’ union.

The Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses welcomed the fact that it had been briefed about the latest developments in a meeting held with Health Minister Konrad Mizzi and Parliamentary Secretary Chris Fearne.

Requests to halt all structural works in the department and to test the concrete structure of the entire hospital building were accepted, the union said.

The MUMN welcomed the ministry’s pledge to keep it informed on the results of tests to be carried out on the rest of the hospital building.
