The newest Disney Cruise Line ship, Disney Fantasy, has left the Meyer-Werft shipyard in Papenburg, where she was built, and is being finally equipped in Bremerhaven, before she will be handed over to the US entertainment company Disney on February 9.

This symbolises one of the final stages of the ship’s construction and marks a significant milestone towards the March 31 maiden voyage.

Building on the classic style of the previous ships, the Disney Magic, the Disney Wonder and the Disney Dream, the Disney Fantasy is a majestic sailing vessel where early 20th-century design – recalling the golden age of cruising – meets state-of-the-art technology.

As can be expected from Disney, the cruise liner was specially designed with families in mind, combining sleek style and convenient facilities with splashes of Disney magic.

Disney Fantasy will have specially designed areas and activities for each member of the family to allow for both magical family moments together and wonderful individual experiences.

The main focus of the Disney Cruise line is to provide an atmosphere where families can reconnect. It is looking to create a place where adults can recharge and kids can immerse themselves in worlds only Disney and their own imagination can create.

Featuring 14 towering decks, a ship length of 339 metres and a maximum width of 35 metres, meaning she is too large to pass through the Panama Canal, the 130,000-ton vessel includes 1,250 staterooms and has the capacity to comfortably accommodate 4,000 passengers.

Discover what awaits you on board

• The magnificent three-deck atrium lobby is reminiscent of grand ocean liners of the Golden Age. Art Nouveau-inspired details and patterns in hues of vibrant blue, green, pink and gold lend to the sophistication. Glamorous and graceful design elements include a sweeping grand staircase, towering fluted columns, a grand piano and an exquisite marble and stone inlay floor.

• The pièce de résistance of the magnificent space is the atrium lobby statue: Mademoiselle Minnie Mouse. Inspired by travel of the 1920s and 1930s, Minnie – cast in bronze and dressed in vintage fashion with steamer luggage at her side – serves to welcome all who board the ship.

• Lavish decorative murals coexist with sparkling fixtures and furnishings. Original paintings, statues and woodwork envelope guests in a radiant Art Nouveau ambiance. And delightfully themed venues – including youth clubs, restaurants, nightclubs and theatre spaces – take guests of all ages to faraway places where memory and magic come together.
