Applause from crowds of flag-waving supporters greeted a flypast and gun salute for the Queen in London yesterday, marking the climax of four days of festivities for her Diamond Jubilee. The royal party waved from the balcony of Buckingham Palace as the sky was decorated with red, white and blue smoke trails from the Red Arrows and the national anthem was played by the Band of the Irish Guards. Earlier there had been a service inSt Paul’s Cathedral and a procession up The Mall.
